Web-Based Attendance Application

The Web-Based Attendance Application is a modern workforce management tool that replaces traditional punch cards and manual sign-in sheets with a secure, digital attendance system. Built with PHP and the CodeIgniter framework for a lightweight yet powerful backend, PostgreSQL for reliable data storage, and Bootstrap for a responsive user interface, the system integrates geolocation and API-based verification to ensure accurate attendance records.

Employees clock in and out through a web interface that captures their GPS coordinates at the moment of submission. A geofencing module compares these coordinates against predefined office boundaries, automatically flagging any check-in attempts made outside the authorized radius. This prevents location fraud and ensures that remote or field-based employees are genuinely at their assigned work locations.

Face recognition technology adds a biometric layer of verification, requiring employees to capture a selfie during clock-in that is compared against their registered profile photo using a facial similarity API. This dual-factor approach, combining location and biometric data, provides a high degree of confidence that the correct person is physically present at the right place.

Automated reporting generates daily, weekly, and monthly attendance summaries for managers, including statistics on punctuality, overtime hours, absenteeism rates, and leave balances. The leave management module allows employees to submit time-off requests, which flow through an approval chain with automatic notifications at each step. The CodeIgniter backend integrates with external payroll APIs to export attendance data, streamlining salary calculations and reducing administrative overhead. PostgreSQL ensures data integrity with ACID transactions, while Bootstrap delivers a consistent experience across desktop and mobile browsers.
