Sobat Sekolah

Sobat Sekolah is an end-to-end school attendance system built for Indonesian primary and secondary schools (SD, SMP, SMA, and SMK). It covers the whole workflow, from printing student cards to handing the principal a monthly recap that is ready to sign. The application is built with Laravel on the backend and Svelte on the frontend, bridged by Inertia.js for app-like navigation without a separate API layer, styled with Tailwind CSS, bundled with Vite, and served behind Cloudflare.

Attendance is captured at a full-screen kiosk stationed at the school gate. Students tap an RFID card or scan a QR code, and arrival and departure are recorded separately along with the method used. A camera photographs every tap, which makes card-lending immediately visible; the photos stay on the school's own machine and are only opened through time-limited links, so students' facial images never leave the premises.

Reporting is where the system removes the most manual work. Daily and monthly recaps are exported as xlsx or as a printable page carrying the school letterhead and a signature block, and per-row attendance corrections can be made directly from the daily report. Permits, sick leave, and a national holiday calendar that syncs in one click all flow into the recap automatically, so nobody recalculates anything at the end of the month.

The system goes beyond the gate. Homeroom and subject teachers record per-period attendance separately from gate entry, while a dashboard summarizes the running day and refreshes itself every fifteen seconds. Student cards are generated from the student data itself with QR codes ready to print, which means a school can start without engaging a card vendor at all. Getting started takes three steps: upload one xlsx of the student body, set up a single gate station with a camera and an RFID reader, and let the recaps produce themselves.

The deployment model is deliberately shaped around real school conditions rather than startup offices. A single PC or mini PC with 4 GB of RAM handles 1,500 students, with a VPS as an option for schools that prefer it, and the entire database stays on-site. RFID readers work as plain keyboard input, so any reader can be plugged in, and schools that are not ready to buy hardware can start with QR codes alone. Three roles with distinct permissions — admin, teacher (homeroom teachers scoped to their own class), and gate operator — keep each account limited to what it actually needs. The application itself is free for schools, with no per-student fee, no monthly subscription, and no features locked behind payment.
